Are you bored of eating those same vegetables and side dishes every day? Be it for lunch, brunch or dinner. Aren’t you craving for something spicy by now? For something different? So, why not indulge your love for some spiciness? Here are a simple recipes for some pepper dishes for you to try out.


Chicken – 1 kg
Gingelly / Sesame Oil – 1 to 2 Tbsp.
Shallots – 300 gms (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
Chilli powder – 2 tsp.
Coriander powder – 1 tsp.
Cumin powder – 1 tsp.
Pepper powder – 5 tsp.
Few Curry leaves

Heat some oil in a wide pan. Add the shallots and saute them until they turn transparent.
Add the ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder. Mix well.
Now add the Chicken pieces, salt and pepper. Mix gently.
Add Water till it covers all the chicken pieces completely. Close and cook the Chicken.
Now open the lid and let it cook until all the oil separates.
Finally, add Curry leaves and more Pepper powder. Gently mix and turn off the stove.
Your pepper chicken is ready! Serve hot!


Oil – 3 to 4 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1/4 tsp
Chopped Garlic
Chopped Ginger
Shallot – 25 nos chopped
Green chili – 1 no. chopped
Few Curry leaves
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chili powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder – 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Boiled Egg – 5 nos (cut into half)

Take a wide sause pan, add oil, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, garlic, ginger, shallots (small onions), green chilli and curry leaves. Saute the onion till it turns brown color.
Add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and black pepper powder. Roast for a minute.
Add water and salt. Mix it together.
Finally add slitted boiled eggs. Close the lid and cook for few minutes.
Serve with rice or roti.


Cooked Boiled rice – 1 cup
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Spilt Urad dal – 1/4 tsp
Ghee – 1/4 cup
Onion – 1 finely chopped
Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
A few Curry Leaves
Salt to taste
A few Cashew nuts

For this recipe i used boiled rice, you can use raw rice or basmati rice, its up to you.
Heat 3 to 4 tsp of ghee in a pan. Add mustard seeds & split urad dal.
Once the mustard seeds start splattering, add cashew nuts, onions, curry leaves & sauté it for a few minutes.
Pound the pepper and cumin seeds coarsely.
Next add cooked rice, salt, pounded pepper and cumin seeds. Mix it gently.
Check for seasoning, add ghee and stir it gently for a minute.
Milagu sadam is ready. Serve with any papad.
