Conjunctivitis:

• In conjunctivitis the white portion of the eye turns pink or reddish in colour
• It is also known as pink eye
• It is a highly contagious condition

Symptoms to look for:

• Pinkish discolouration of the eye
• Pain in the affected eye
• Itching
• Watery eyes

Causes:

• Viral infection
• Reaction to an allergen
• Chemical exposure
• Excessive strain

Natural home remedy using honey:

1. Honey fights bacterial infection and soothes the eye.
2. Take 2 cups hot water
3. Add 3 tbsp honey
4. Mix well
5. Allow the mixture to cool
6. Wash your eyes with this mixture twice a day

Natural home remedy using coriander leaves:

1. Take a handful of coriander leaves
2. Add 250 ml water
3. Boil for 15-20 min
4. Cool and strain the liquid
5. Use this decoction as an eyewash

Natural home remedy using potato:

1. Slice a potato
2. Place the slice on the infected eye
3. This will reduce the pain

Tips:

• Wear dark glasses to prevent the infection from spreading
