Coin Parotta Recipe – Kerala Simple Parotta Recipe – Parotta is the soul of Keralaites. Kerala is one of the South Indian states famous for its authentic style of dishes which are renowned all over the world. Parotta is a kind of flatbread made with all-purpose flour. The kneading and rolling out of the dough is a bit different from that of other rotis and bread. Our chef describes the simplest way of rolling and folding techniques of parotta in this video. Let’s have a glimpse at the ingredients for making parotta:

All-purpose flour – 500 gm

Oil – as required

Sugar – 2 tsp

Salt – as required

Milk – 1 tbsp

Egg – 1

Water – as required

Combine the ingredients well and knead the dough applying some oil. The consistency of the dough is a little bit more sticky than that of usual roti or chapati. Apply some oil to avoid stickiness over the palm while kneading. The dough slowly transforms to soft. Keep the dough aside. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and allow it to rest for 2 hours. Take out the dough and make small balls from the dough. Our chef shows us how to prepare balls from the dough. Even though making parotta involves a lengthy process, we will be overwhelmed by the final product.

The next step is to flatten the balls into a thin sheet with hands and again fold the sheet. Follow the steps in the video to fold the sheet and finally into spiral portions. Flatten the spiraled portions with the palm into a medium-sized parotta. Cook it on a hot tawa by flipping both sides several times.

The final step is to beat the parotta before it cools. Homemade fluffy and soft parotta is ready to serve.
