The rice preferably used for preparing ghee rice is jeerakashala rice or Wayanadan Kaima which is available in Kerala in every supermarket. If it is not available, you can use any good variety of basmati rice. You will need a heavy-bottomed vessel and a good lid for preparing the dish. The basic ingredients for preparing ghee rice are jeerakashala rice, ghee, onions, spices, cashews, raisins, water, and a little bit of experience.
